Muay Thai Training in Thailand - Frequently Asked Questions

Plan your training: skill levels, trip length, gear, and more.

Do I need prior experience to join a Muay Thai course?
No. Most Thai gyms run daily classes for absolute beginners alongside separate sessions for intermediate and advanced students. Each course lists its target skill level.
How long should I train Muay Thai on a holiday?
A week gives you a solid introduction and noticeable improvement. Two to four weeks allows technical progress and conditioning gains. Serious students often stay one to three months.
What equipment do I need?
Most gyms provide gloves, shin guards, and pads. You will want your own hand wraps, training shorts, a mouthguard, and proper hydration. Some gyms sell these on site.
Are Muay Thai training camps safe for women?
Yes. Women train at nearly every Thai gym, often with dedicated female trainers and partner drills. Camps in Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok are particularly welcoming.
